THE LAST RESURRECTION, THE SECOND DEATH.
Daniel made it known beforehand and wrote: “And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt.”
(Dan. 12: 2)
Jesus Himself said: “Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.”
(John. 5: 28- 29) (John. 6:44)
In addition He said: “But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered in his presence….”
(Matt. 25: 31-32a)
John confirmed: “I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God’s throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books. The sea gave up its dead, and death and the grave gave up their dead. And all were judged according to their deeds.”
(Rev. 20: 11- 13)
The Lord will separate them one from another, and will say to those written in the book of life on His right hand, “Come, you blessed of my father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.”
(Matt. 25: 34)
Then He will also say to those on the left hand, “Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the Satan and his angels.”
And anyone not found written in the book of life will be cast into the lake of fire.
(Matt. 25: 41)
Then Death and Hades will be cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
(Rev. 20: 14)
“Therefore GOD also has highly exalted Jesus and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of GOD the Father.”
(Phil. 2: 9- 11)
NOTE.
The parable of the rich man and the beggar, named Lazarus, was a revelation of the future.
(Luke 16: 19-31)
The rich man (Jew) will be judged by his works according to the Law of Moses. The beggar Lazarus will not be judged by his works; but by the Grace of GOD, and the blood of Jesus Christ, Lazarus was redeemed and declared righteous!
The difference between the dead, and the separation of the dead, will only be made after the “last resurrection,” as it is, clearly described above.
The two criminals who were crucified with Jesus were laid to rest in the grave. Until the resurrection of the dead, time is to them of no significance! “… The dead know nothing…”
(Eccl. 9: 5)
For them as well as for all those at rest in death, time will pass like the twinkling of an eye. When they, with the final resurrection, open their eyes again, the occurrence of their crucifixion will remain fresh in their minds as though in actuality, they were still there.
However after their resurrection everything around them will appear to be unlike anything they ever expected. This experience will be the same for all the resurrected dead.
Therefore when Jesus said to the one: “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.” Then for him this will be today!
(Luke. 23: 43)
